ROLE SUMMARY:

This is a permanent, full-time primary PE position incorporating a sports coordinator component.  Start Term 1, 2027.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated Physical Education lessons for students in Years 1-6, aligned with the Cambridge curriculum and school expectations.
  • Co-ordinate sporting events in conjunction with the Sports Coaches PE Staff and Director of Sports and Clubs.
  • Liaising with PE staff re advertising of sports fixtures and sporting events.
  • Maintaining records of student participation and successes.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performing learning environment that supports student wellbeing, participation, and achievement.
  • Assess, monitor, and report on student progress, providing timely feedback to students and parents.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school through extracurricular activities, events, camps, and pastoral care responsibilities.
  • Coach and lead school sports teams, promoting excellence, teamwork, sportsmanship, and student participation in competitive sport.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues to enhance teaching practice, curriculum delivery, and student outcomes.
  • Uphold the school's safeguarding, health and safety, and professional standards while building strong relationships with students, staff, and families.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:

  • Demonstrated experience teaching Physical Education to students, with the ability to engage and motivate learners of varying abilities.
  • Proven ability to plan and deliver high-quality, differentiated lessons that support student achievement and wellbeing.
  • Experience assessing student progress, maintaining accurate records, and providing meaningful feedback to students and parents.
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and families.
  • Experience coaching and leading school sports teams, with the ability to promote participation, teamwork, and sporting excellence.
  • Experience contributing to the wider life of a school through extracurricular activities, events, camps, and pastoral initiatives.
  • Previous experience with Cambridge International curricula is advantageous but not essential.
  • Excellent administrative and organisational skills, including record‑keeping, team entries, and fee management
  • NZ Teacher registration with supporting teaching qualifications (B Ed and/or M.Ed).Ethical, respectful, and aligned with the values of ACG Schools.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A recognised teaching qualification, such as a Bachelor of Education or equivalent.
  • Qualifications in the field of sports management, coaching, recreation or fitness would be highly regarded.
  • Accreditation with New Zealand Education Council


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prepared to undertake a New Zealand police check prior to commencing the position
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and maintaining New Zealand teaching accreditation.
  • Provide lunch & playground.
  • A willingness to attend school events outside regular hours as required (e.g., performances, parent-teacher interviews, etc.).
