ROLE SUMMARY:

 

King’s College, The British School of Alicante — one of the most sought-after British schools in Spain — is seeking to appoint an inspiring, committed and passionate Teacher of Mathematics to join our Middle School team (Years 5–8).

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of an outstanding school, as our Middle School continues to expand in response to local demand. The successful candidate will join a supportive and dynamic team, teaching mixed-attainment groups and encouraging every student to achieve their full potential.

There may also be opportunities to teach Years 9–13 and/or take on pastoral leadership responsibilities for suitably qualified candidates.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Plan, deliver and assess engaging, high-quality mathematics lessons aligned with the English National Curriculum for Years 5–8.

  • Create an inclusive and stimulating learning environment that supports students of all abilities, including those for whom English is an additional language.

  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the Middle School curriculum and teaching practice.

  • Foster students’ personal growth, confidence and love of learning through excellent pastoral care.

  • Participate actively in the wider life of the school, including co-curricular activities and community events.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to safeguarding and the wellbeing of all pupils.

 

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

 

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.

  • Successful teaching experience in UKS2 and/or KS3, with proven impact on pupil progress.

  • A deep understanding of the English National Curriculum in mathematics and effective assessment practices.

  • The ability to differentiate teaching and support multilingual learners.

  • A reflective, enthusiastic and collaborative approach to professional development.

  • Excellent spoken and written English, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • A commitment to the school’s ethos — nurturing the whole child through academic excellence, creativity, and character development.
