King’s College Alicante, a leading British international school with 1,300 students from over 60 nationalities, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Seniors to lead Years 9-13 from August 2025. Located in Alicante, a vibrant Mediterranean city with an exceptional quality of life, the school provides a rigorous British education and is part of the Inspired Education Group.
The Head of Seniors will join the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) to ensure academic excellence, pastoral care, and outstanding experiences are at the heart of day-to-day life in the senior school. Leading the implementation of a dual pathway through Sixth Form (reintroducing A-Level alongside the IBDP), and ensuring students thrive in a high-achieving, inclusive environment are key elements of this post.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support the Executive Headteacher to set the strategic direction of the senior school and lead on daily operations, ensuring alignment with the College’s mission and values.
- Drive academic excellence by monitoring teaching quality, curriculum development, and student outcomes at IGCSE, A-Level, and IBDP levels.
- Establish and maintain a positive, inclusive, and high-achieving school culture with clear behavioral expectations and strong pastoral support.
- Review and refine effective student progress tracking and intervention strategies, utilizing data analysis to drive continuous improvement.
- Work with College Leaders to oversee safeguarding, student wellbeing, and pastoral care initiatives, ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment.
- Lead senior staff, Heads of Faculty and teachers to promote best practices in pedagogy, assessment, and student engagement.
- Support the development and implementation of the dual pathway Sixth Form model, ensuring outstanding outcomes for all IBDP and A-Level cohorts.
- Foster strong relationships with students, parents, and staff, acting as a key point of contact for stakeholder engagement.
- Support the Executive Head to lead on admissions, recruitment, and marketing efforts, contributing to school growth and external representation.
- Ensure the Senior School remains inspection-ready, adhering to the highest educational and safeguarding standards.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- At least two years of senior leadership experience (Head or Deputy level) in a British curriculum school.
- Proven success in driving academic outcomes and leading school improvement.
- Expertise in IGCSE, A-Level, and IBDP curriculum and assessment.
- NPQSL or equivalent leadership qualification (NPQH desirable).
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, and safeguarding experience.
