ROLE SUMMARY:

 

King’s College School Alicante is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Biology and/or Chemistry Teacher to join our high-performing Science faculty. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality teaching at KS3–KS5, including A Level and/or IBDP, and contribute to science teaching across the middle and senior school. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Teach Biology and/or Chemistry across KS3–A Level and/or IBDP.

  • Support the teaching of general Science to younger middle and senior school students as required.

  • Track, assess and support pupil progress to ensure strong academic outcomes.

  • Adapt teaching strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners, including EAL pupils.

  • Contribute to curriculum development, departmental initiatives and practical science activities.

  • Participate in enrichment programmes, extracurricular opportunities and wider school life.

  • Engage actively in professional development and reflective practice.

  • Integrate educational technologies—including VR, AI and digital science tools—to enhance learning.

 

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

 

  • Successful experience teaching Biology and/or Chemistry to A Level and/or IBDP, with evidence of strong value-added outcomes.

  • A creative, student-centred approach rooted in Quality First Teaching.

  • Fluency in English with excellent spoken, written and technical communication skills.

  • Confidence teaching a range of year groups from middle school through sixth form.

  • A collaborative, positive and proactive attitude, contributing fully to department and school life.

  • Ability to differentiate effectively, particularly for learners whose first language is not English.

  • Strong commitment to pastoral care and to supporting the holistic development of every student.

  • A reflective mindset with enthusiasm for ongoing professional learning.

  • Willingness to embrace innovative technologies and digital tools to enhance science education.

  • Motivation to contribute to a school rated “outstanding in all areas” under the BSO framework.
