ROLE SUMMARY:
King’s College Alicante (KCA), one of the most sought after British Schools in Spain, is seeking to appoint an inspiring, committed and passionate professional, with qualified teacher status, to join our Primary Senior Leadership Team for a late August 2025 start. The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight of the Early Years Phase (Pre Nursery, Nursery and Reception), ensuring the highest standards for teaching, learning and care in our newly refurbished learning environment. Applications are welcome from candidates with experience of senior leadership, particularly in the Early Years.
The core purpose of this role is to work closely with the Executive Head and Head of Primary to provide exceptional leadership for the Primary School, ensuring top-quality education and pastoral care for all pupils. As a member of the Primary Senior Leadership Team, they will play a key role in the school’s effective operation and maintain a visible presence. The role requires a skilled, reflective, and dedicated practitioner who can model excellence in the classroom.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead by Example: Plan, deliver, and assess lessons across the Early Years Curriculum, with class responsibility and leadership time.
- EYFS Framework: Lead early years staff to implement best practices in line with the British EYFS framework.
- Monitor Teacher Performance: Oversee teacher performance, providing support and ensuring high pupil achievement through quality assurance and assessments.
- Enabling Environment: Ensure children experience a positive, challenging environment indoors and outdoors.
- Moderation and Assessment: Lead EYFS baseline and GLD data moderation and ongoing assessments throughout the year.
- Line Management: Manage phase staff, ensuring high performance and supporting development.
- Data Analysis: Assist in analyzing school performance data to ensure improvements are made.
- Marketing and Admissions: Contribute to marketing and admissions strategies to attract families to the school/nursery.
- Action Plan Development: Produce and evaluate action plans aligned with school goals for continuous improvement.
- Staff Meetings & INSET: Lead and contribute to staff meetings and professional development.
- Pupil Progress: Lead progress meetings, set data-driven targets, and implement interventions as needed.
- Curriculum Development: Contribute to the development of a balanced curriculum meeting pupil needs.
- Parent Engagement: Foster strong relationships with parents, involving them in their child’s learning.
- SLT Collaboration: Work with SLT to plan staff induction and contribute to school-wide goals.
- School Assemblies: Participate in school assemblies as scheduled.
- Parental Engagement: Support workshops, information evenings, and meetings outside school hours.
- Leadership Team Contribution: Contribute to the school’s development plan and complete tasks assigned by the Head of Primary.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Qualified Teacher Status
- Evidence on ongoing professional development
- Professional Leadership Qualification (CPML,NPQML, NPQEYL, NPQLT, NPQLL etc)
- Safeguarding training up to date
- 2 or more years as a people manager
- Successfully led a subject or department
- Successfully led large teams of people
- Excellent classroom practitioner
- Improving teaching and learning across a primary school
- Leading on curriculum change and innovation
