ROLE SUMMARY:

The Northfields campus in Labourdonnais is situated on owned freehold property and incorporates numerous subject classrooms, dedicated science labs, computer suites, art studios, a design and Special Education Needs (SEN) and English as an Additional Language (EAL) support rooms.  Northfields offers internationally recognised educational programmes and qualifications for Montessori, Cambridge, and International Baccalaureate. The curriculum progression in the school begins with Montessori Pre-Nursery, followed by either the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) at NIPS or the Montessori Programme at NIMS.  Students from both Primary Schools may progress to Secondary School at NIHS, where they follow the 5-year IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) in Years 7-11, culminating with the Cambridge IGCSE examination at the end of Year 11.  Students in Sixth Form then follow the 2-year IB Diploma Programme (DP).

We are looking for an Accountant to join our team. The objective for the accountant is to support the Finance Department and Finance Manager by completing accounting tasks. He/she will prepare budgets, maintain reports and complete bookkeeping and accounting duties for the school. The accountant will also lead the End of Year Audit exercise. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage purchase ledger and supplier payments
  • Create and maintain supplier accounts, payment terms, and contact details
  • Input invoices, ensure authorization and coding, and process payments
  • Prepare cash flow reports, cheques, and bank transfers
  • Review staff expenses, utility accounts, and assist with procurement
  • Assist with year-end accounts and financial systems development
  • Act as contact for budget holders, staff, and suppliers
  • Administer internal charges, invoices, and purchase orders
  • Reconcile supplier statements and resolve queries
  • Handle petty cash, incoming post, emails, and filing
  • Collect payments from students, process income, and record VAT
  • Administer MasterCard and petty cash systems; complete reconciliations
  • Process monthly payroll, coordinate management accounts, and budget exercise
  • Prepare audit financial statements and oversee annual audit
  • Oversee shop and canteen operations, ensure policy adherence
  • Track IFRS updates and update company policies

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • A degree in Finance
  • Fully Qualified (CIMA, ACCA, CA or other accounting qualifications)
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Accountant

 

Knowledge

  • Experience of payroll, PAYE and Social Securities
  • Integrated accounts package (Pastel Evolution)
  • Strong IT, especially Excel Desirable
  • Proven ability to work with databases
  • Ability and drive to shape the finance function in line with the schools’ strategic objectives and operational requirements.
