Accountant

ROLE SUMMARY:

Founded in 1989, Blue Valley is a private, bilingual, Pre-K through 12th-grade school with over 800 students that offers a challenging combination of Costa Rican and International curricula promoting technology, the arts, and physical wellbeing.

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic school accountant.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.

2. Bookkeeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using accounting software or spreadsheets.

3. Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, and monitor financial performance against targets.

4. Tax Compliance: Prepare and file tax returns, ensure compliance with tax regulations, and advise on tax planning strategies.

5. Audit Support: Coordinate and provide support during internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with auditing standards.

6. Financial Analysis: Analyze financial data, trends, and performance metrics to identify areas for improvement or cost-saving opportunities.

7. Financial Planning: Assist in developing financial plans and strategies to support business goals and objectives.

8. Risk Management: Identify and assess financial risks, and implement controls to mitigate them.

9. Communication: Communicate financial information effectively to stakeholders, including management, investors, and regulatory authorities.

10. Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, laws, and regulations.

11. Process Improvement: Identify inefficiencies in financial processes and recommend improvements to streamline operations and enhance accuracy.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
• In-depth knowledge of NIIF (International Financial Reporting Standards) is essential.
• CPA (Certified Public Accountant) certification is highly preferred.
• Demonstrated experience in accounting or financial roles.
• Advanced proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Unwavering commitment to accuracy and meticulous attention to detail.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively engaging with diverse teams.
• Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
• Comprehensive understanding of relevant accounting standards and regulations.
