ROLE SUMMARY:

Founded in 1989, Blue Valley is a private, bilingual, Pre-K through 12th-grade school with over 800 students that offers a challenging combination of Costa Rican and International curricula promoting technology, the arts, and physical wellbeing.

Blue Valley School is seeking to appoint an Academic Deputy for January 2025 (temporary position)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the overall achievement students within the school.
  • Direct planning activities and implement programs to ensure the success of the students.
  • Provides curricular and instructional leadership by supervising the design and development of academic programs and activities, their implementation, and their evaluation.
  • Works closely with the staff to identify educational and instructional needs and develop plans to improve the instructional process.
  • Monitor instructional processes to ensure that program activities are related to outcomes.
  • Establish clear expectations for staff performance with regard to instructional strategies, classroom management, and communication with the community.
  • Observe employee performance, record observations, and evaluate the performance of faculty and staff along with the principals. Provide opportunities for improvement as needed.
  • Plan professional development activities.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • Masters in Education
  • Educational Administration training
  • Five or more years as a teacher with an exemplary teaching record
  • Two or more years of experience in a leadership position 
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Experience facilitating, overseeing, and coordinating curriculum and instruction
  • Skilled at empowering, and mentoring faculty 
  • Experience supervising and evaluating faculty 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Highly organized and task-oriented
