ROLE SUMMARY:

Altair School is strategically located in La Molina, Lima, Peru. It is a co-educational, bilingual institution accredited for all three International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP), and Diploma Programme (DP).

We are looking to appoint a Primary Teacher Assistant to support teaching and learning in the Primary School. The successful candidate will work closely with the Primary classroom teacher to support students’ academic progress, wellbeing, and social development, helping to create a safe, structured, and engaging learning environment.

This role plays a key part in supporting daily classroom routines, reinforcing learning, and ensuring that all students are able to access the curriculum effectively.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the Primary classroom teacher in the delivery of lessons and daily learning activities.
  • Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning in literacy, numeracy, and other curriculum areas.
  • Assist with classroom organisation, routines, and transitions throughout the school day.
  • Support students’ social, emotional, and behavioural development in line with Primary School expectations.
  • Help prepare and organise learning materials, resources, and classroom displays.
  • Supervise students during lessons, break times, and school activities as required.
  • Support students with additional learning needs, following guidance from the teacher and learning support team.
  • Observe students’ progress and wellbeing and share relevant feedback with the class teacher.
  • Promote positive behaviour, inclusion, and respect at all times.
  • Uphold school policies, safeguarding standards, and the values of Inspired Education Group.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • Previous experience working with children in a Primary School or similar educational setting.
  • A strong interest in Primary education and child development.
  • The ability to build positive, supportive relationships with young learners.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Patience, flexibility, and a nurturing, proactive approach.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Spanish; basic English skills are an advantage.
  • A qualification or studies in education, early childhood, psychology, or a related field (desirable).
