The Secondary English Teacher will inspire students to develop a strong command of the English language, critical thinking, and a love for literature. This educator will teach English Language and Literature across various grade levels in Secondary, following the International Baccalaureate (IB) framework and the school’s academic standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Deliver engaging and differentiated English lessons aligned with IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP) objectives.
- Foster students’ analytical, interpretive, and written communication skills through diverse literary texts and genres.
- Plan, assess, and report on students’ progress in accordance with school and IB policies.
- Integrate technology and innovative teaching practices to enhance learning experiences.
- Contribute to curriculum development, vertical alignment, and interdisciplinary projects.
- Maintain a supportive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student growth and well-being.
- Communicate regularly and effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to support learning and development.
- Participate in school events, parent meetings, professional development sessions, and extracurricular activities.
- Uphold the school’s mission, values, and commitment to excellence in education.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in English, Literature, Education, or a related field.
- Teaching certification or equivalent professional qualification.
- Proven experience teaching English at the Secondary level; IB MYP/DP experience preferred.
- Strong command of written and spoken English (native or near-native level).
- Experience in bilingual or international school environments is an asset.
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
- A collaborative mindset and commitment to continuous professional growth.
- Passion for literature, language, and inspiring lifelong learners.
