ROLE SUMMARY:

Altair School is strategically located in La Molina, Lima, Peru, and its campus has an area of 15,000 square meters. It is a regular, bilingual and mixed education school. It has the IB Continuing Program accredited for its three programs: PYP (Primary Years Program), MYP (Middle Years Program) and Diploma.

The team of teachers at Altair School is highly qualified and dedicated to providing an outstanding educational experience. The Part-Time ELS & Primary Music Teacher will work collaboratively with colleagues, demonstrating strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate music lessons for Early Years and Primary students.
  • Introduce rhythm, movement, singing, listening exercises, body percussion, and age-appropriate instrument play.
  • Foster creativity, self-expression, confidence, motor development, and early musical awareness.
  • Use diverse teaching strategies such as movement, storytelling, musical games, and interactive activities to support different learning styles.
  • Establish a warm, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that encourages exploration and participation.
  • Prepare students for small musical presentations, assemblies, and community events throughout the school year.
  • Integrate music with classroom themes and collaborate closely with Early Years and Primary teachers to support cross-curricular learning.
  • Maintain regular communication with families and contribute to a positive school-home partnership.
  • Support the organization of school-wide cultural, artistic, and musical events when needed.
  • Manage and care for music resources and instruments, ensuring materials are well-maintained and accessible.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • Degree in Education, Music Education, or a related field.
  • Teaching qualification required.
  • Experience delivering music curriculum for Early Years and/or Primary students; experience with PYP is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of two years’ teaching experience, ideally including Early Years.
  • Strong background in early childhood and primary music education, including rhythm, movement, singing, and instrumental activities.
  • Ability to design engaging musical experiences and support performances or school events.
  • Advanced level of English.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, teamwork, and clear communication.
  • Genuine passion for holistic child development and creative, play-based learning.
  • Confident using technological tools to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Experience in bilingual or international school settings is an advantage.
