We are seeking a caring, proactive, and dedicated Junior School Teaching Assistant to join our dynamic and supportive Junior School team. The successful candidate will work closely with classroom teachers to enhance students’ learning experiences and ensure a nurturing, safe, and engaging environment for all children.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support the classroom teacher in planning and delivering high-quality lessons and learning activities.
- Provide individual and small-group support to students, reinforcing learning objectives and offering additional guidance where needed.
- Assist in creating a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes students’ social, emotional, and academic growth.
- Help prepare, organise, and maintain classroom materials, resources, and learning spaces.
- Supervise students during transitions, break times, lunch, and other non-classroom settings to ensure their wellbeing and safety.
- Support students with special educational needs or additional learning needs as directed by the classroom teacher or learning support team.
- Assist with classroom management, encouraging positive behaviour and helping maintain routines.
- Participate in school events, assemblies, field trips, and activities as required.
- Collaborate with teachers, counsellors, coordinators, and support staff to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
- Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and alignment with the school’s safeguarding and child protection standards.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- A diploma or degree in Education, Early Childhood Education, Psychology, or a related field (or in progress).
- Previous experience working with children in a school or educational setting, ideally at the primary or Junior School level.
- A warm, patient, and nurturing approach to working with young learners.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with teachers and school staff.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to support classroom routines and procedures.
- A proactive attitude, willingness to learn, and commitment to contributing positively to the school community.
- High level of English proficiency (advanced).
- Understanding of child development and basic learning support strategies is an advantage.
- Experience in international or bilingual schools is preferred but not essential.
