ROLE SUMMARY:

Altair School is strategically located in La Molina, Lima, Peru, and its campus has an area of 15,000 square meters. It is a regular, bilingual and mixed education school. It has the IB Continuing Program accredited for its three programs: PYP (Primary Years Program), MYP (Middle Years Program) and Diploma.

The Art Coordinator & Early Years Music Teacher will work collaboratively with colleagues across departments and year levels, demonstrating strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.

They must bring a genuine passion for art and music education, and a commitment to the holistic development of young learners—fostering creativity, expression, curiosity, and an appreciation for the arts. The ideal candidate will also be proficient in the use of technological tools to enhance learning and possess an advanced level of English.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

As Art Coordinator

  • Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the arts curriculum across grade levels.
  • Ensure alignment of learning objectives within the PYP, MYP, and Diploma frameworks.
  • Support teachers with planning, instructional strategies, and development of creative projects.
  • Organize and curate school-wide arts initiatives, exhibitions, and cultural events.
  • Manage art-related resources, materials, inventory, and budget.
  • Promote a strong creative culture across the school community.
  • Coordinate extracurricular or enrichment programmes related to arts.
  • Collaborate closely with academic leadership to elevate the arts offering at Altair.

As Early Years Music Teacher

  • Plan and deliver playful, developmentally appropriate music lessons for Early Years students.
  • Introduce rhythm, movement, singing, listening exercises, and simple instrument play.
  • Foster creativity, expression, motor development, and early musical awareness.
  • Create a warm, safe classroom environment that encourages exploration.
  • Prepare students for small musical performances and community celebrations.
  • Incorporate diverse teaching strategies including movement, storytelling, and musical games.
  • Collaborate with Early Years teachers and maintain regular communication with families.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • Degree in Education, Music, Fine Arts, or a related field.
  • Teaching qualification required.
  • Experience with PYP/MYP arts or music curriculum is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of two years’ teaching experience; Early Years experience..
  • Strong background in arts and/or music education.
  • Experience coordinating programmes or leading creative initiatives.
  • Advanced level of English.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, teamwork, and communication.
  • Passion for holistic child development and creative learning.
  • Ability to use technological tools to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Experience in bilingual or international schools is an advantage.
